Dear all, I am sad to inform that under health related considerations, we, the staff in charge of the 2009 La Loma Track & Field Festival, along with our committed sponsors and the Mexican athletic community, have decided to cancel this year’s edition. To all the coaches and athletes that had selected our meet as part of their competing program we want to express our commitment with our principal goal, that is, to provide the best conditions under which all the participants could compete to improve their personal best and hopefully, achieve the minimum standards that would represent their qualification to the 6th IAAF World Youth Championships and the 12th IAAF World Championships in Athletics, to be held respectively this summer. Unfortunately to all of us, the recent health threat that we all face together, despite our nationalities, as inhabitants of this globalized world, as humanity as a whole; compromises the high quality standards that we had set for our Festival. Regardless of this, our commitment is a long term one. We will continue with the La Loma Track & Field Festival in the years to come, for the rest of this Olympic cycle and hopefully, for as long as we can.
Madaí Pérez to lead Mexican marathon team in Beijing
Ixtapa, Mexico.- The fastest Latin American female marathoner ever, Madaí Pérez, will lead the Mexican 42.195km team in the 2008 Olympic Games as she and Carlos Cordero won the 30km trials on Sunday in this resort on the Pacific coast. Pérez, who holds a personal best of 2:22:59 from her fourth place finish in Chicago 2006, won the 30km trial in 1:45:05 hours, ahead of two-time Olympian Dulce María Rodríguez (1:46:23) and Patricia Retiz (1:47:33). Patricia Rétiz, 37, won the LALA Marathon in March, the country's top 42.195km race, which usually serves as the national championships and qualifier for the World Championships and Olympic Games. However, the Mexican Athletics Federation (FMA) decided to hold a 30km qualifying race with similar weather conditions athletes would find this summer in Beijing.
Running has always been my passion and it is now the time to return to the true runners, who wake up early morning to run and then do their jobs.
Therefore, I have created this site to help you run better and healthier in training and races.
An increasing number of runners want to try a marathon. It is undoubtedly a personal challenge for many. Believe me. Running 42,195km helps understand us better.
However, after finishing the first marathon, many of us want to run another one and go faster. Through my years in world class athletics, I have gained good and bad experiences from all kinds of runners, including myself.
I also realized that there is a growing number of runners in who want to follow specialized training programs to improve their results.
Based on what stated above, I decide to create an annual training concept for runners and marathoners. I want you to get ready for a race in a relatively short period of time and stay injury-free.
With this training concept and as the next goal, you will be able to design and follow your own programme. We could also form our own team of friends.
I will be available to offer my counseling and a diversity of specialized services to runners like specialized camps and training programs
We will organize lectures in different Mexican cities and set up training groups for recreational and competitive runners, through the German Silva School . Packages to several races worldwide will be also available. I will be delighted to share my running experience with you.
